It's always 420 in the Verse, or "How I spent my 7 days during 420 week celebration!!"
Well we all seemed to have survived 420 week celebration without too much more than tired, weary "smoke-filled" eyes and huge, silly grins pasted on our faces. For those that are still at a loss to the whole "420" thing, it's basically a code for marijuana, weed, smoke... well you get it ;) In 1971 a group of high school students (that were called the Waldo's as they like to hang out against the schools back wall.) at San Rafael high school in San Rafael, Ca. started making that coded reference to their "cool" classmates as a way of saying meet us at the base of Louis Pasture's statue at 4:20pm to smoke weed and get high (as that was about 5 mins after the last of the school staff left for the day.). Since that time, many folks in the cannabis culture have adopted 420 as their code for getting high and asking others in the know if they want to join them for a "smoke". Also, all over the world many celebrations have been spawned using the 420 code as their heading and parties are the norm for this date and week.
Well Utherverse was not about to be left out of the celebrations and surely showed the world that during the week from 4/20/09 to 4/26/09!! The parties raged on from midnight on 4/20 until the wee hours on 4/26 and trust me, this bleary-eyed reporter can attest to that in full measure! The first official party was held by Temptations. They started it off Monday morning at midnight till 6pm with The Hippie Festival, then from 6pm till midnight was The Woodstock Festival! The whole club was truly decorated completely in 60's/ Woodstock feeling themes and even included a "hippie-fitted" school bus. Now for those of you that didn't check it out inside, the hippie bus hosted a true "free-love" icon with nakie hippies "expressing" their free love ;) The dj's were on it and the mass amount of folks were bouncing high and happy all night (this reporter even did a bit of high bouncing in the "bounce house" as I just couldn't resist it :D The party rolled on for the whole 24 hours and was hugeeeee! Tuesday came and Shockers was up as the next host of the 420 parties and held a Masquerade, complete with lots of game, great music and was a blast for their packed house!! They truly rocked the night out and kept us all happy and bouncing into the wee hours!
Wednesday brought us to Silken Exposures for their all day/ night long party! The ladies certainly kept all their guests entertained and happy all day and night long and helped folks with their "over the hump" night ;) (Now what better place to get "over the hump" than Silken Exposures?? Heheheheheheeee couldn't help it, just too easy of a pun ;) .). The party was a blast, the music fine and the people kept rocking it all the way through!! Ahhhh then there comes Thursday. Now normal folks would be happily in the their beddy byes on a week night, but nooooo not the party animals in Rude Virtual!! Their party started at midnight and was a 24 hour street party and from midnight till 8am was a costume party!! With my head still swimming and eyes at slits, I armed myself with lots of coffee and headed off to the party. Rude hosted their midnight to midnight party by having costume party/ judging, speed dating, many games and entertainment and sync dancing!! Also, as always, their beach was hopping and inviting to all that wanted to bounce to the hot tunes provided by Rude!! They know how to throw a party for sure!!
Before I knew it it was Friday, can you believe it?! Nostalgic Dreamz was the host for the Friday 420 party and decided to wake us all up after just a few precious hours of "sort of sleep" by having a Hell Party Wake Up that started at, can you believe it, 8am!! Who needs coffee when you get to become wide eyed awake with those hot slamming tunes they were spinning. They had fun and games all though out the day, as well as events and ended it all up with their version of Woodstock, Dreamzstock with all live music from all eras!! What a grand party it was! Then again, before I knew it it was Saturday, where had the week gone?? Oh yesssss, I sort of remember, the party started early on Monday morning and just kept going all over the Verse!!! :D Saturday brought all the hardcore partiers to The 7 Sands for their 24 hour Beach Party!! 6 live dj's spinning in shifts throughout the whole 24 hours and keeping all of us bouncing and happy with their hot tunes and fun events!! What a great party on their inviting warm sands!!
Finally Sunday showed up, now after a whole week of, more or less, non stop parties, you would think that Sunday should be a day of rest, well not in Utherverse!! Noooooooo!! The Bareback Bordello played host for the Utherverse Events Team's All Day Close Out Party!! They were grand hosts, keeping everyone happy and bouncing with great music (and for those of you in the know about Bareback Bordello, some were bouncing in other ways ;) hehehehhehee), fun games and events. It was a great way to round out the week of wild parties, great music and fantastic venues!! The events team really were great hosts and made sure that they had their people at all the official events to help things go smoothly and to answer every-ones questions.
Now in conjunction to the official 420 events, many venues, including some of the above ones, hosted their own non-official events/ parties all week long. Eclipse Night Club/ Wild Rose Tavern played host to a full week long celebration. Exhale 09, highlighted parties were Mon. eve Exhale Party, Weds. eve The Stoners Ball, Fri. eve The Great Smoke Out Party and Sat. eve was the Down The Rabbit Hole Party! With live Dj's spinning the whole week via CFXRNETRADIO keeping the tunes cranking and the folks bouncing madly! Tuesday seemed to bring out the topless and/or nakie in many, many folks as Rude Country had their Topless Tuesday, Jokers held Butt Nakid Tuesday, Leather and Lace had their Topless and Tasty Tuesday and Almost Paradise 7 Sands held their Girls Gone Wild Night!! Okey, I guess it was bound to happen, but seems Tuesdays are the unofficial nakie night in the Verse!
Thursday London Image played host to a very interesting and different kind of event. St. George Day (He was the one that became famous/ infamous for some (I happen to love dragons :( ), for slaying the dragon and saving the kingdom.). This event went from 10am till 4pm with live music, games and lots of fun!! The events team hosted in Rlc street on Thursday evening, Revent'on Callejero (Street Reunion) in Spanish Dim with live music provided by Latin World Radio. Saturday afternoon and eve was a Dance Party in Fever and Jokers in Rude Virtual hosted a Pimp and Ho's Gala Sat. evening!! As you can fully see, the whole verse stayed jumping all week long and kept 420 alive for every minute!! My bleary eyes and somewhat muddled brain can fully attest to that!! :D
Now, I want to personally thank all the staffers of the Venues, both for the official and non-official 420 events/ parties and also a hugeeee shout out to all the DJ's all over the verse for spinning such mad tunes and keeping everyone bouncing and happy!! Far to often we over look the staffers and/or DJ's as we are all heading into different venues to party and have fun and our minds are on that, not those that work so veryyy, veryyyy hard putting together both special events and also the daily/ nightly fun and entertainment to keep us happy!! Many, if not most all venue staffers and dj's are volunteers and do this for the love of what they do and the love of the people when they see their smiles and hear their words of encouragement! For those of you that don't really know what all goes into the "behind the scenes" of creating, hosting and advertising for events, esp. major ones, keep in mind that many, manyyyy hours go into all the facets of the events, many start a month or more prior to it's happening and between the creation, fliers, posting, prepping the club and staffers and actually being there from start to long after the end of them to make sure to greet, help out and keep guest happy and informed. And the DJ's, perhaps even more overlooked at times, these folks spend countless hours as well setting up their play-lists, getting their music set up, also putting together vast amounts of possible requested music and all the other myriad of tasks involved with getting ready to do their sets and then the time spent on the events themselves making sure to keep their tunes playing seamlessly and making folks bounce and happy! I say to all these folks, THANK YOU ONE AND ALL!!
Well, this tired and happy reporter is now all rested up and ready for the next event/ wedding/ party and who knows, perhaps my next article will be about you!! Until then...
